The historic, adjoining countries of Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) and Silesia (now the southwestern part of Poland) have been known as a glassmaking region for over 600 years. It is believed that millefiori paperweights originated here and glassworks such as Carlsthal, Josephinenhütte, and Riesengebirge made paperweights and related items during the classic period. These are all uncommon items and when we do get a good piece it is usually sold as soon as we acquire it. If you are interested in adding a Bohemian-Silesian paperweight to your collection please let us know and we will notify you when something is available as they will not be shown here often.
